About Us
The story of Lancer Appliance begins with my career in the Air Force serving as an avionics technician on the B-1 Bomber as part of the 37th Aircraft Maintenance Unit based out of Ellsworth Air Force Base just east of the Black Hills in South Dakota. As a flight controls technician, I got to work on intricate electrical systems responsible for the movement of flight surfaces, autopilot & navigation systems, and instrumentation among other things.
I enjoyed many aspects of the job and thought it offered a good balance of being challenging yet still rewarding. But as a Phoenix native, working for 5 winters in South Dakota was enough and I decided to come back home. I started working for an appliance repair company and my intention was for it to be a temporary job while I looked for something avionics related. I soon discovered that many of the same aspects I enjoyed in the aircraft maintenance world, like troubleshooting and problem-solving, also applied to appliance repair.
After spending 3 ½ years working for various companies and hearing countless customer frustrations about the appliance repair industry, I realized there was an opportunity to provide something better—reliable service at a fair value. That realization led to the creation of Lancer Appliance, named in honor of the B-1 Lancer I worked on during my time in the Air Force. Choosing a mascot was easy—I decided to embrace the same mascot as the 37th AMU, a tiger.
